ABOUT OLD COBRAN

For over 60 years, we have been breeding the Old Cobran Poll Merino.

Our approach to breeding has seen our genetic line adapt to meet future demands and changes.

Established in 1954 on Boonoke blood from Deniliquin, Old Cobran was one of the first registered Poll Merino Studs. Old Cobran Poll Merino Stud is now based in Mullengandra, NSW between Holbrook and Albury.

The Martin family have a clear breeding objective – to breed a productive Poll Merino that doesn’t require mulesing and works well in all current and future market opportunities. This is achieved through strict selection of balanced traits, such as wool, carcass, and fertility through visual and objective measurement assisted by the tools of MerinoSelect and Genomic testing.

We continue to put immense pressure on these commercially driven traits within the stud and in our commercial sheep. These traits heavily align themselves with current market and changing climatic conditions. Our proactive approach ensures we can remain adaptive to future demands and changes.
